- Boxing. Oscar De La Hoya reignites Canelo Alvarez rivalry with incriminating claims about his trainer and team
The only reason Canelo Alvarez faced William Scull in May in his fight in Saudi Arabia is to regain the undisputed super middleweight championship and expose it against Terence Crawford.
That fight will be in Las Vegas on September 13 and is the duel he has been looking for since August 2024 and he achieved it with a contract with the Mexican for four fights.
Turki Al-Sheikh complains about William Scull's style
However, Saul Alvarez's first bout in Riyadh left much to be desired as he was unable to stop Scull's run in the ring in the fight with the fewest punches, according to CompuBox.
"I don't want to see any more Tom and Jerry-style boxing matches, where one boxer runs around the ring and the other chases him," said Sheikh Turki Al-Sheikh. "We can no longer this kind of fight with Riyadh Season and The Ring. We want to boxers who leave everything in the ring and fight with heart and pride."
After the fights between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury, as well as Dmitry Bivol and Artur Beterbiev, not all of his fights have been so good, including the one he did in New York with the defeat of Ryan Garcia against Rollie Romero, with a victory for Devin Haney that did not attract attention either.
Canelo Alvarez vs Crawford, the new bet
Now the big fight that Turki Alalshikh has ahead of him is Alvarez against Crawford, which will be broadcast on Netflix and will be at the Allegiant Stadium, where the Las Vegas Raiders play.
While two of the best boxers of recent years are being measured, the difference in weight, more than two divisions, has raised doubts
The sheikh has gone out of his way to 'sell' the fight as the biggest in history because of the economic impact and to achieve this he uses Dana White, president of the UFC. We'll see if he achieves his goal with his whim of a fight.
