Summer is just around the corner. This is indicated by the swimming pools, which are already marking their opening days, the beaches filling up and the high temperatures. And, although you probably still have a few days (or a month) to go on vacation, there is one constant every year when these dates arrive: the bikini operation.

Many people do crazy things with their diet to get to summer with the weight they want, however, it is not necessary. A nutritionist has shared on her blog (Dahlia Nutrition) the foods we can incorporate into our diet to take care of our body inside and out.

It is no secret that the foods we are going to mention below are very healthy. However, it never hurts to have a nutritionist confirm how beneficial they are to take care of our figure without sacrificing the nutrients we need. Fruits and vegetables are an excellent source of vitamins, minerals, fiber and antioxidants. In addition, summer fruit usually has a large amount of water. As for fiber, we can also include whole grains and legumes, which also contain protein.

A nutrient-packed diet

Lean proteins are also essential. These include foods such as chicken breast, fish or tofu. Equally important are dairy products, but we should look for those that are skimmed or low in fat. Some examples are milk, yogurt or some types of cheese.

Although we often think that we should eliminate fats, we should only get rid of the unhealthy ones. Healthy fats are necessary, some of which can be found in avocados or olive oil. Nuts also contain healthy fats and it is important to consume them, although in the case of this small food, we should eat them in moderation.

In addition, it is important to pay attention to hydration. We can drink water or even make cold teas and infusions that refresh and assume the properties of the herbs that we include in them.

What we must eliminate

However, dietitians generally agree that there are foods that should be eliminated from our diet or avoided as much as possible if we want a healthy body. This is the case with foods that have unhealthy fats.

Fatty meats such as sausages, bacon or ribs are some examples of meats to avoid. Also cured cheeses or fried foods. Foods such as ice cream, puddings or whole dairy products will not be beneficial as they contain a large amount of calories and saturated fats.

It is always better to drink water but, if you want or feel like having another drink, it is better to avoid sugary drinks as they are not very nutritious and can trigger blood sugar spikes.

Processed foods are also targets to avoid. They are rich in saturated fats, sugars, preservatives and, in many cases, colorings; which are not very nutritious and sometimes harmful.
