Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout left Wednesday's game in Seattle with left knee pain. Trout was pulled before his turn at bat in the fourth inning after trying to leg out a groundball to second base in the previous inning. He was replaced by pinch hitter Jo Adell.

Trout said he hopes it's just scar tissue that's sloughing off and added that he plans to try to play Thursday. "When it happened, I knew it was something weird," Trout said after the game. "But now, after getting treatment and stuff, I should be a little better soon. I'll come in and see how I feel, that's the plan for now," said the Vineland, New Jersey, native slugger.

This is how the episode that cost Trout his release went down

During his turn at bat in the third inning, Mike Trout ran down the line after hitting a grounder into the box in front of Mariners starter Emmerson Hancock, and made a quick throw toward home plate, thinking he could get there before second baseman Miles Matrobuoni's throw to starter Rowdy Tellez. The play ended as routine despite the effort of Trout, who stayed in the game defending, but was retired in the next inning, going 2-1.

29, the fateful number?

Trout has started all 29 games this season, but four of the previous five seasons he has played fewer than 100 games, including just 29 last year. The slugger has not missed a game this season, 22 in right field, and appeared in the same number of games last season before tearing his meniscus and missing the rest of the season. He is hitting .173 this season, with nine home runs and 18 RBIs.
