Deshaun Watson's road to recovery is one of the NFL's biggest questions going into the NFL 2025 regular season, after the Cleveland Browns quarterback tore his Achilles in January for the second time in 12 weeks.

The fomer Houston Texans star signed a five.year, $230 million fully guaranteed contract back in 2022, which could go down in history as one of the worst deals for an NFL franchise. To make matters worse, Cleveland has four quarterbacks competing for the starting job.

Joe Flacco, a veteran who've won a Super Bowl with the Baltimore Ravens, is the likely starter for Week 1 against the divisional rivals Cincinnati Bengals on September 7. Next in line is Kenny Pickett, who got drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2022 NFL Draft but did not impress the team. Rookies Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders are also on the fight to make the final 53-man roster.

Deshaun Watson is not that worried about the fight for the quarterback starting job with the Cleveland Browns, though, as he has other priorities in mind, such as getting a wild new tattoo that sums up what the last couple of years has been like for the former Clemson Tiger standout.

Watson was put to sleep to cover his entire back with a massive design, which includes a photo of his girlfriend and an empty Super Bowl ring, along with the NFL logo. Some fans took the opportunity to take shots at the player who once showed flashes that he could have been one of the greatest quarterbacks in the league.

"Super cringe that a guy that is currently hurt, has been suspended for violation of the personal conduct policy and hasn't done much on the football field since 2021, has a Super Bowl trophy and ring tattooed on his back," an X wrote. "That looks terrible," added another . "Browns fans how are you not digging more into this to see if it could void his contract? Did the team ok him for getting anesthesia?" posted somebody else.

The Browns desperately need a franchise quarterback

The Cleveland Browns desperately need a quarterback that can give them consistency, effort, and above all, wins that can take the team to the next level. They are only one of four franchises that have never played in the Super Bowl, ing the Detroit Lions, the Houston Texans, and the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Joe Flacco is unlikely to be that guy. The 40-years-old player is way past his prime, which was not very impressive, anyways. Kenny Pickett has not shown that he can carry a team to the promised land, with the Steelers giving up on him after not being able to give them what it takes to be a superstar.

Dillon Gabriel is barely starting in the league, and some even believe that he does not have the skills and talent that makes him a good starting quarterback. As for Shedeur Sanders, the former Colorado Buffaloes has a lot to prove in the league, but he first gotta show that he can make the team for the regular season.
