New York Giants rookie Cam Skattebo has spent his offseason learning playbooks, running drills-and, apparently, going viral for the wrong reasons.
In a recent video shared by Barstool Sports on X, the former Arizona State running back was shown a series of NFL legends and asked to name them. Let's just say it didn't go well.
Cam Skattebo break into tears as he knows his life is about to change
Skattebo stared blankly at photos of Calvin Johnson and Brett Favre, two Hall of Famers widely regarded as icons of the modern game. Even with hints, he struggled to name Johnson, and he couldn't recognize longtime Saints receiver Marques Colston at all. The only one he got right? Cam Chancellor, the former Seahawks safety-and maybe that's just because they share a first name.
Midway Fumble: When Trivia Gets Too Real
The moment sparked a wave of reactions, from good-natured teasing to serious questions about whether young players are losing touch with the league's past. ESPN's Mina Kimes said on NFL Live, "You'd like to see a rookie show a little more awareness of the legends who built this league."
To his credit, Skattebo seemed to take the moment in stride. He later joked on Instagram: "I promise I know football Just maybe not the old heads yet."
While the viral moment gave fans something to talk about, it hasn't changed the fact that Skattebo is still a legit talent. After rushing for over 1,700 yards and 21 touchdowns at ASU last season, he's got a real shot at earning a role in the Giants' crowded backfield.
Let's just hope no one quizzes him on Tiki Barber, Joe Morris, or Otis Anderson anytime soon.
